Of Dates, Friends, and my Loving Mom…
December 2, 2007“Look at all these common people. I can't believe it takes them forever to cross the street.” My date said while I wonder in awe. Waggling her eyebrows she then asks,
“Why did you make a left?”
“I'm taking you back. Sorry I have diarrhea.” A wry remark I made after hearing her vicious comment.
“It was one of the worst dates of my life.” I told my friends about what happened. “Dude, you should have asked her for head for the wasted gas.” Paolo said then everyone erupted in cheers!
“You're a dog Paolo.” Christy said to him. “Men are dogs. Woof Woof.” Paolo said while raising his glass.
“Am I a dog too honey?” I asked Christy while flashing my close up smile.
“Oh sweetie, if you were a dog, you would be the sweetest and most adorable one. You could stop traffic with a single smile.” Christy said while giving me a hug.
Am I ready to start dating again? Lately, I've entered rooms of fun, flirty, sophistication, and excitement but I haven't entered a room where I could pour my heart out…
“What do you want Alvs? Another relationship with so many uncertainties?” Paolo asks after raising his glass.
“I want all that. To wine and dine with someone. The explosive fights, all the snarling, growling, bickering, and all the dramas that come along with it.” I declared then I reached for Jessica's hand and said “dance with me!”
Amidst of all the fun I left the party to come home!
“Stop the car. I want to walk.” I told my driver after removing my headset.
“Sir, why? It's dark outside.” My driver tried to convince me otherwise.
“This is a gated community. What do you think will happen to me? Besides, mom's house is just a few blocks away.” I told my driver as I got off the car.
As I walk and look at the bright stars I realize that every individual has an equal right to happiness, and no one is any more important than another at birth. It's strictly a matter of what you make of your life. Somehow I can't imagine that this spark has been breathed into us, only to let it be extinguished in useless or wasteful endeavors. I prefer to believe that we all have a mission, if nothing else than to make another person happy. To negate our existence in that manner means to deprive life of its meaning.
I was about to sleep when I hear a knock on my door. My mom enters and says, “honey, I'm glad you are home.”
“Mom, I want to sleep here tonight.” I told my mom while turning on the lamp.
“Of course. You are welcome here anytime.” My mom said and kissed me goodnight.
“Am I a good son?” I asked as she reached for another pillow.
“Honey, you are and I love you. You have scaled the highest summits and been flung to the lowest depths but you still crave for more. Exactly what life is all about. How you handle every instance of your pain and every manifestation of your grief makes me even more proud of you. I know why you are still here. Honey, listen to me. You can stay here but you have to figure out what you really want. If you still want Rica then marry her, otherwise, let her go. It's time to move on even if it means starting over in another city or in another country. My fervent wish for you is to be happy.” My mom said then she turned off the lamp and left my room.
I dried my tears. I said my prayers. I closed my eyes and hope that one day when I open them there would be someone beside me to greet me in the morning breeze!

wow, your mom is great. maybe you need to go through all these bumps to understand what you really want.
isn’t ‘pursuit of happiness’ really the basic goal of every individual? it just depends on what type of person you are and what makes you happy. whatever your choice is, i wish you luck

Posted by planetalvin at December 4, 2007, 12:58 pmSometimes, to know what we really want in life, we have to ask the best person who knows us inside and out; our moms.
Posted by twistedkai at December 8, 2007, 10:03 amLooks like you’ve got a lot on your plate, I say take your time to think, dont rush anything, its good that your friends and family are there when you need them, but everything still is up to you.

It’s been a long time since I last went here! You have to decide on your own. Take a deep breath and think. Everything will fall into place.
