Of Friends, Clubs, and Baby Shower!
May 23, 2007“My mom doesn't know that I'm in the country already so make sure we enter from the backdoor.”
Marivi says as she grabs her bag and handed me the invitation. “What was that all about?” I asked her with a grin. “Photogs will be around because the country's finest will be there so I'm not doing any red carpet tonight. My mom can't see me plastered in magazines attending another club opening." Marivi ardently explained herself.
Last weekend was a blast as Marivi and Carlos hosted a sumptuous dinner at their very own Casa Armas restau. One of the reasons why I spend gruelling painful hours at the gym is to be able to devour Iberian Chicken and Croquetas twice a month…. Oh I can't wait!
After the intimate dinner the group decided to grace the grand opening of another club. “Please don't take our photos.” Marivi and Kats begged for the photogs to leave them alone even for one event. “Hey Alvs, how's Ayanna?” “Hey Alvs, I heard that you and Rica are seing each other again. She's actually here!” Okay time to go! We stayed for 20 minutes because it was so crowded and the gawking crowd couldn't even bother to wipe the drool from their chins as they approach our booth.
The following day we celebrated another milestone! Yasmina and Jose hosted a baby shower welcoming Marie's and the group's first baby boy! As Marie surges through the room, her clothes get sparkly and shiny, exuding pure happiness and joy! The whole experience was so surreal. We all couldn't believe that Marie is just a month away from motherhood. “This is a baby shower so there will be no alcohol and no smoking around sexy mommy Marie.” Yasmina says as she handed tea to everyone. “What is this? Are you sure there's no Vodka in here?” Carlos asks as the group erupted in cheers. “This is Gyokuro green tea, one of the world's most expensive tea.” Yasmina explained as the group pretended to even understand what she meant. Hehehe!
As the group headed home there was a feeling of loneliness. Wait. This is not one of those I need Stilnox type of loneliness. I just realized that most of my friends have taken their lives more seriously. Most of them are married, engaged, and some are in serious relationships. What about me??? Darn, I still look the same…. I mean I'm still searching. Oops, not even. I don't know if I'm making sense but somehow I feel that I should be counting years with someone already and scouting for that perfect ring or having lunch with my mom asking for her blessing and heirloom. Oh well, maybe I need Stilnox!? I think I know what's wrong with me. Oh yes, I wasn't horribly drunk last weekend thats why…

Yup, there’s nothing wrong with being single. Perhaps, a bottle of Chilean wine will help me get through tough times.
Cheers man!

The perfect girl will come to you in a perfect timing… What the hell’s wrong in being single anyway??? I’ve been single for the past 5 years or so and I am still happy!
Enjoy life! There’s more to life for you to enjoy every single minute out of it!
i sometimes hate being single. with baby showers, marriage proposals, couples and hearts, ugh, i feel so left out. blah blah…we’ll survive this.
Carey, I am enjoying my life but it wouldn’t hurt having someone to toast every waking hour with… I know I’ll find her soon. Who knows?!
Janus, we can trade places for one day. hehehe
Indeed, there’s more to life than having someone like a bottle of Chilean wine and the latest season of Heroes!
Cheska, we both have these longing sentiments but I’m sure in time our friends will be the ones throwing these parties for us…

How about dating some of your female fans? who knows
Oh well, when the time comes that you’ll be hitched, maybe you’ll be the one who will all shiny and sparkly.
cheers to “singlehood”. we have the same dilemma dude. i’ve been a groomsman and a ninong, but never a groom and a father. my friends are getting devoured by “commitment” (by marriage or parenthood) one by one. and me … still here, going nowhere. cheers to that!
