Superstar!

May 8, 2007

“What? It's too early. Are you crazy?” I annoyingly told my sister. “It's mom's birthday and it's 1PM already. You were supposed to be here 2 hours ago.” My sister told me as I looked for my watch to validate her claim.

“Please take off your shades. Where have you been?” My mom told me as I handed her birthday present. “I had a long night. I did a lot of research for my next project. Happy birthday mom.” Okay, I was plastered so I didn't get enough sleep. Please don't tell my mom. Hehehe

Family gatherings can really be fun. Last weekend was no exception as the whole family celebrated a special day commemorating the birth of the original dancing queen. She was a vision in a sunny dress that floats around her. Her exquisite beauty shone ever so brightly as she stood surrounded by the people who love her the deepest.. Everyone wants to know her secret. I say good genes and a very good dermatologist… hahaha!

“She's your cousin Alvin.” My uncle told me as I embraced a cousin from abroad who I haven't seen for many years already. “I know. I just can't believe it's been this long. Wow. You're gorgeous.” Darn, why do we have to be related? Just kidding…

My mom used to say if you can't generate the heat, get off the spotlight. Change starts at home and it's in front of the closet mirror. Good thing I shaved because for her going the distressed route may be okay when you're walking the dog so she expects only a charming young man to show up on her big day.

My mom is every inch a superstar. Even my own brilliance pales in comparison to hers. Which is why I'm certain to seek her opinion on my big day. I am ever grateful to her for a colorful childhood and for her being there every step of the way. One of the greatest moments with her was when she handed me an extension card and said “use this to buy happiness.” Hehehe. My mother is my hero and who ever I am, whatever man I find myself to be, I owe to her. To say I love her with all my heart seems like an understatement. I hope she never gets tired of loving me back

I'm curious, what's your favorite moment with your mom?

Hmmm, great post. Except the part of her outshining your brilliance. Okay Alvs, you’ve just reached Makati again! hahahaha.

With regard to favorite moments with my mom. Well there are plenty of instances and the common variable seems to be when she leaves me alone! Hehehe

I really liked the part: One of the greatest moments with her was when she handed me an extension card and said “use this to buy happiness.” hehehe, when my mom handed me my extension card she told me: “use this with care and caution, kung ndi gugupitin ko ito.”

Off topic:
I can sense you’ll be a good hubby, there is a saying that men who treats their mother with much love (not the mama’s boy type of love) will be a good husband as they will treat their wife with love also.;)

My mom is also a dancing queen in her own right and that makes me a dancing princess! :D

My mom and I had a LOT of memorable moments and i don’t know which one to choose! :D

Ok since the common denominator of my mom and your mom is their love of dancing, my mom and i had a sort of mini showdown with my dad as the judge. I guess u know who won lol

happy mother’s day!!! :D please extend this greeting to your mom, alvs.

if you’re mom is the dancing queen, my mom is the kitchen queen. she is a great cook. had i been living with her still, i would have gone bloated. i swear, her dishes are delicious. everytime there’s a reunion, nobody else handles the kitchen but my mom. she’s a dear. i miss her. she’s in the province right now, supporting my tito who’s a politician running for ???.

Virus, come on. I always get there every time you talk to me… hehehe
My mom knows when to leave me alone and that’s when I don’t answer her calls. :-)

Twistedkai, yes I know I’ll be good husband and a great partner. I just can’t wait for that perfect moment…

Chelsea, I miss my grandma. I haven’t seen her for a long time because she’s somewhere at the North Pole… hehe

Mica, when will you show your great dancing moves??? I’m sure you had a blast watching your parents… I’m envious! :-)

Janus, I read your entry and it was such a sweet tribute to your mother. She’s very lucky to have you and your siblings. Happy Mothers day to her as well.

Eng. Cortez, congratulations! I’m proud of you! Extend my greetings to your mom as well.

Ven, when will I get the chance to taste your mom’s favorite cuisine? My mom can cook too. Wait, I think she can fry. hahaha! I hope your uncle wins. Let me know how it goes.
Happy Mother’s day to your special mom!
