The Spanish Invasion…

June 19, 2006

There are people who go for tradition. And there are those who decide to break away, make a 180-degree turnabout and jump headlong into unfamiliar territory. Are you bold enough to find yourself at the other end of the spectrum?

I've been getting a lot of phone calls from my guy friends wanting validation whether or not the illustrious, larger than life Yasmina is back in tinseltown. Yes, she is back! Prettier and sexier than ever…

It was a reunion for the “tali” group last weekend. Jessica is back from Switzerland, Marie from China and of course the leggy Yasmina who just graduated with honors from University of Alicante in Spain. After hybernating for quite sometime, the crew decided to grace the official camera-flashing tizzy bar. As the night roars on, the place gets so packed you can't stand without someone stepping on your foot as revelers walk off high-fiving and gloating over their starry encounter with “tali” group.  People scrambling for a better view, climbing on the back of the couches, standing on tables, in dire cases, and crawling atop their boyfriend's shoulders to have a glimpse of  the Spanish invasion. “Omigod, did you see her? She's prettier than ever”. Gushes a reveler as Yasmina struts her stuff to the delight of everyone…

Yasmina is your ideal woman - the marrying type! Never been afraid of taking risks in life. A year ago, she made the biggest decision in her life. In the end, it was all worth it. She came back with a degree and in the arms of Jose Manuel, who's a Spanish royalty…

Her experiences taught me a lot. Indeed, risks are part of life. Regardless of the outcome, they surely yield far more interesting results. Many often mistake this as a total abandonment, but some choose to see it as looking forward to what the new can bring while taking inspiration from the past and the lessons it brings.

I realized that life is a big party! We shouldn't wait for the bartender to bang spoons on wineglasses to signal last call. We should all move forward and never wait for the festivities to wind down. Armed with life-altering experiences, let's put on our coat, gather up the whole crew and gear up for the next big thing. Yes, my life's biggest party is yet to come and I am so ready for it! Or not!?

Mas maganda pa rin if you choose to think outside the box, rather than just blindly believing or denying tradition…
