Thank God for Fiamma…

November 21, 2005

The whole “tali group” attended Tito Jesus' memorial service last Friday. We were all present for the “kids”… Marivi, Carlos, and Jessica. It was an emotional day filled with memories of a great man.

Tito Jesus Armas, owner of Casa Armas restaurants, died in a car accident in Spain. It was unexpected. The doctors gave him three days but he fought for his life. He had so much to live for… He lasted for 30 days before he finally met his Creator.

The “tali group” was almost complete. Michelle came back from the U.S.  Marivi and Carlos from Spain, and Jessica took a break form her studies in Switzerland. Everyone's goal was to make the “kids” feel the love they truly deserve from their best friends…

Later that night, we attended the MTV Supahstar 2 at Le Pavillion. Although, our friend Jamela didn't win, we were all very proud of her. In the Q&A of the contest, she was asked to answer a difficult question… it was make or break for her and in the end she chose her personal happiness. She announced to the whole world that she had a boyfriend and he is the sexiest man alive for her… Oh well, she's really happy and for us she is the sexiest woman alive with or without the “Condom Award”.

After the event, the entire group went to Fiamma. Soon to be the most talked about bar in the country has finally opened. Wow is one word to describe the place. We all felt like we were in New York or London Metropole when we entered the bar. The people behind Cena, Pravda and II Ponticello are the owners of this bar. Many familiar faces, almost all our contemporaries were present. Another reason for Marie, Michelle, Derick, Ced, and Alvs to justify their shoppaholism. And yes, the tali group, dressed to the nines as always,  came back the following night for another helping of modern hedonism with style and class.

Last weekend was filled with tears and happiness. The tali group was together under regrettable circumstances, but just like what Jessica said, her father would have loved for her to enjoy the night like what she did with us. It got me thinking how lucky a person is to have a best friend and when you have twelve then you must be one of God's chosen “cool kids”.
