Strip Tease

June 29, 2005

Last Saturday’s typhoon didn’t stop us from having so much fun…I was stunned to find out that the entire “tali group” was invited to Anna’s surprise “bachelorette” party in Rockwell. The surprise party was organized by Anna’s sister two weeks ago. The "Tali Guys" weren't supposed to be invited. They had strippers (male and female) for the event. However, the girls got scared of the idea of a guy stripping in front of them so they decided to invite the entire Tali Group. We witnessed everything, all the screams and the bravura performances…. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I’ve never seen anything like it. We had so much fun so we flaked on our next party.

So why did we feel bad for the strippers? Both are from Pampanga. They tried their luck in Manila five years ago. Unfortunately, decent jobs didn’t pay well so they decided to use their God-given well sculpted bodies instead. For one, it’s good money. Each was paid five thousand for an hour performance. Do I hear “sideline” from anyone?….hehehe. The female stripper works in a bar as well.  She’s the bread winner of the family and has been in the “business” for two years. She has the body of a goddess…One of our friends even paid two more thousand for another act. Well, it was worth it. She was kind enough to teach us the right moves to “seduce” and “keep” our partners. The male stripper has a day-job as a crew in McDonalds. Shower party is his sideline. He sends his little sisters to school in Pampanga… Another sad story of people not given so much in life….

The following day, during breakfast, we wonder about the strippers. Is it something to be ashamed of? Would you be surprised if you received a business card that says “Accepts Shower Parties”?….Yes, they have business cards, with their pseudo names and contact details. Wow, I guess one should be jaded at this time and age. Or not?

How do you define decency nowadays? What is a decent job anyway? Who defines it? In some countries in Europe, prostitution is recognized as a decent job. Yes, they pay taxes and enjoy benefits just like the rest of us…
I always believe that it’s a person’s prerogative…whatever he wants to do with his life…One shapes his own destiny. At the end of the day, who are we to judge?…..
